A horizontal structure defines the composition, with a dark linear band cutting across the surface like a distant horizon. The surrounding field is built from layered washes and vertical drips, creating a sense of depth that remains unstable and shifting. Gestural, darker forms accumulate along the edges, partially enclosing the central space and introducing a contrasting rhythm to the otherwise restrained middle zone. These surrounding marks feel intrusive, as if pressing inward, disrupting the clarity of the horizontal division. The work engages with the tradition of landscape while resisting its resolution. The horizon, typically a stabilising element, becomes uncertain and fragmented, transforming the image into a tension between order and interference, where space is both constructed and continuously unsettled.
