Original artwork description:

In the heatwave
Mid morning,
The heat was intense,
As the temperature went up,
Painting outside,
The grasses were golden already and the greens were olive shades,
Splashes of wild flowers in the beautiful hedgerows of Bourton, North Dorset.

Words and expression of my painting experience plein air.
Original impressionist watercolour painting on textured acid free cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano.
I created this watercolour along a footpath looking closely at the hedgerow. and what was growing amongst it. I noticed the drying of the plants already happening in late June.
I wet the paper in areas and with my filbert brush I swished the pale yellow Gamboge all over then a cobalt blue for the sky mixing a purple while the paper was damp, applying in a scrubbing technique.
For the vegetation I I dabbed, pressed, dragged and scratched out the paint with my nail.

Materials used:

Textured watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, filbert brush, Chinese brush, high pigmented Japanese watercolours, pearlised watercolours,
