Original artwork description
I painted this scene on one of those rare days when the city seems to breathe with you. Morning in Versailles began with soft sunlight that settled on the old façades, tinting them with warm shades of ochre and terracotta. I sat across from a small café with a red awning, watching the gentle rhythm of the street, and I could feel the city’s quiet pulse — calm, graceful, almost musical.
What I wanted to capture was not just the architecture, but the atmosphere — that delicate sensation of light reflecting in the windows, and the breeze stirring the leaves. Each brushstroke became a breath of Versailles itself, filled with morning joy and the tender hush broken only by laughter and passing voices.
I mixed the paints right on the canvas — thickly, with intent — to preserve the energy of the moment. I wasn’t searching for perfect lines, only for movement, for the life that makes the city real.
For me, this painting is more than just a view of a street. It’s a memory of warmth, of peace — of a world you wish you could stay in just a little longer.
