“In Isolation” was painted during the early days of the 2020 lockdown. Like many of us, I was trying to make sense of the stillness, the silence, the sudden pause in life. I imagined a solitary house in the middle of a wide golden field, surrounded by sunflowers and distant mountains — a place that felt both comforting and distant at the same time.
This scene became a metaphor for how I felt: isolated, yet strangely connected to something essential and peaceful. I painted it with a palette knife, using thick, textured layers of oil to express that tension between solitude and warmth, between separation and beauty.
Looking at this painting now, I feel it carries not just a memory of that unusual time — but also a reminder that even in isolation, there is light, color, and life.
