Original artwork description

Ségur-le-Château is a beautiful medieval town on the border of Corrèze and Haute-Vienne (West of France) and is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
The buildings typically date from the 15th century to the 18th, and includes a house that was owned by Henry IV. I have had the chance to visit on more than one occasion, and although this particular street didn't have the awe of some of the buildings, there was something about the light, the flowers, the roofs coming together, that made me want to paint it.

The whole painting was done with a bristle fan brush; I've never used a fan brush before, and haven't since, but I felt inspire to try something different, and this allowed for the looseness and variety of brushstrokes. It is painted on Italian canvas attached to a wooden board for rigidity.

Materials used:

Oil paints (Rembrandt, Old Holland, Winsor & Newton, Gamblin, lefranc & bourgeois)
