Original artwork description
Plein-air painting.
This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules that might create a predetermined look.
It enables the artist to better capture the changing details of weather and light. The characteristic of this way of working are tonal qualities, color, loose brushwork and softness of form.
The green landscape “Impression” is made with broad and fluid strokes, in order to show emotional depth. I also wanted to show that moment of silence near the end of the day, dusk.
The landscape is abstract, dominated by green and blue shades that flow into each other, creating the reflection of the sky on water. In the central part there is a yellow form resembling the setting sun, whose reflection spills over the surface. The upper part of the image is airy, with lighter tones and hint of clouds.
Brushstrokes are free, layered and intuitive, without precise contours or clearly defined shapes. With extended strokes of the brush I am creating a quiet dynamic, and trying to guide the viewer through the composition. In some places the color is almost embossed. The blue tones in the upper part have a gestural character, they are unpredictable and they are bringing liveliness to the calm composition.
The scene was formed through memory and emotion, created in one breath, capturing a fleeting moment and its inner vibration.
