The subject has been selected for the natural expression, which can be read as possibly regret or boredom. Unsure what she is thinking yet, a familiar pose, we can relate to her on a personal level. Much of Sal's work defies traditional posed portraiture and presents us with a deliberate question about feelings and how we relate to strangers and images through emotional empathy.
The work has been inspired by images of faces appropriated from film, photography and the media, and exploits the conventions of cinematography; heavy cropping, close-ups, angled shots, saturated colours, as well as the use of dialogue for titles.

This painting is framed and shipped ready to hang with fixtures on the back of the frame. The frame can be removed if required. It is signed on the back of the canvas. Paintings are securely packaged and shipped with a tracking number.
