I Believe In Things That I Cannot See (Victory) (2019)Acrylic painting
by Niki Hare
£3,500
Original artwork description
Acrylic on 200gsm Fabriano Accademia, the paper was stretched so it's very flat and smooth.
This work is part of a series that the artist produced using text by the British poet James Hope. The works were produced to provide digital images for the album 'Ode' words by James Hope, music by David Harrow.
Collaborations can be a tricky thing but in this instance the artist felt an affinity with the words and the sum of the parts created something better than the individual elements alone.
This piece was inspired by the poem Victory, here is the text used:
I BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT I CANNOT SEE
MY THOUGHTS CREATE REALITY
I BELIEVE THAT I CAN DO IT
THAT TIME GOES THROUGH MY HANDS LIKE SAND
LIFE KNOWS WHO I AM
VICTORY SEEMS CLOSER NOW
