Original artwork description
A shop in Hull caught my eye, bookended between trees. I loved the autumnal red colour of the wood, and the sadness of the naked brick that poked through the peeling stucco, as though flesh in threadbare clothes. There is a transience, a fleeting beauty, a Proustian trigger to times of childhood decades since. This work is on a 0.4 inch deep canvas and can therefore hang without the need for framing if wished. A perfect souvenir, a great collection starter.
