This work is an exploration of form and visual composition. Mining a space between figuration and stylish abstraction: a place between reality and imagination.
With a semi-abstract painting of this sort, where the artist is including a recognizable figure with pure abstract forms and color, the problem is always to mate the two in a way that makes all components compatible. Here I am using the female figures, the Pegasus horse and the concrete wall as a departure point, leading to the less definitive shapes and colors of the bulk of the painting. I have kept most of this painting within a pallet of cold colors to illustrate the somewhat vintage theme. For this work, Pegasus and the concrete wall were digitized and laminated to the mylar surface. The women were then painted with india ink and acrylic.
Horsewomen is a one of a kind, original work of art. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. It is mounted on tempered masonite with a simple two inch wide grey wood frame.
I include a drywall hanging device. The painting can be on your wall in five minutes.
