Holding the Formation (2026)Acrylic painting by Samantha Malone
94 x 130 x 3cm (unframed)

Original artwork description
"Holding the Formation" continues my exploration of abstract dancers held within a structured grid. The figures feel connected, almost supporting one another, as they stretch and curve through the composition while staying “in formation.”
The color palette is warm and grounded with dusty pinks, deep teal, mustard, plum and cream, and with darker navy shapes anchoring the movement. I love how these tones sit together because they feel both playful and architectural at the same time.
Built up through layered acrylic paint, the surface has depth and quiet texture. Small details and subtle patterning create rhythm across the canvas, allowing the eye to travel without overwhelming the structure.
This work is part of my Forma collection, where abstract figures, repetition and structure come together in a confident, evolving visual language.
Medium: Acrylic paint on gallery grade canvas.
Signed Certificate of Authenticity.
The artwork was painted on un-stretched Italian cotton canvas, with a 6 cm border left for stretching onto a canvas frame. This artwork is shipped rolled in a tube for safe international delivery and can be affordably stretched at your local framing store.
Shipping: The artwork is shipped in a tube via DHL Express.
