This work was exhibited at my solo show “Hold the Light” in Turkey in 2026.

“Hold the Light” continues my ongoing exploration of the window as a metaphorical threshold between the inner and outer worlds. In this series, I treat the act of looking as a form of movement: whatever appears beyond the glass inevitably reflects the landscape within.

The work reflects on the fragile act of preserving hope in uncertain times. A quiet interior opens toward the vastness of the sea — a space suspended between intimacy and the unknown. The lantern becomes a symbol of inner light: something small yet persistent, capable of guiding us through darkness without fully dissolving it.

Here, the motif of the window is joined by the image of a ship — a recurring symbol in my practice representing journey, freedom, transition, imagination, and memory. The ship is not merely an object within the composition; it comes alive in dialogue with the sea outside, extending my ongoing exploration of inner travel and distant horizons.

The sea evokes movement and openness, while the window maintains the delicate boundary between presence and longing, shelter and possibility. The painting speaks of how distant horizons begin to grow within us, and how the desire to continue dreaming and moving forward can emerge from a quiet, intimate moment — a gaze through the window.

Inspired by Mediterranean light and the emotional language of landscape, “Hold the Light” captures the meeting point of reality and imagination, where the window becomes the place where the journey begins, and where even the smallest light can be enough to guide us forward.
