This is an atmospheric oil painting of the stunning Higger Tor, a dominant landmark in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District national park, Derbyshire.
This piece is created using lots of texture and muted colours.
I was inspired to paint this after seeing the eerie shapes of this monolithic gritstone tor and the surrounding landscape overlooking the Burbage valley at dusk. I have always loved the eerie half light between day and night that casts a silvery tone to all that it touches, a time when you can almost believe magic can happen !
