I have always loved this magical place, this secret old Inn in the shadow of one of the architectural wonders of the world. a place where one can drink in a snug room, to the sound of thundering trains, whilst gazing out to the estuary. It is of course the setting to the Scottish novel, Kidnapped. I have come here all my life, childhood memories of mystery, and countless family visits. At night, as shadows lengthen, the woods encroach, darkness reigning. This work is rich in colour with touches of realism. Texture has been added to give extra depth. The canvas is deep enough to hang without a frame if wished. A perfect gift, a great souvenir.
