In this work, I wanted to capture the physical weight and the warmth of the harvest. Painting the ears of wheat was almost like a meditation for me—layering the yellows and ochres to make them feel dry, prickly, and sun-drenched. I spent hours on the embroidery and the coral beads because, for me, these aren't just decorations; they are the backbone of our identity.
When I finished, I felt a sense of grounding and pride. It’s a portrait of a girl, but it’s also a portrait of resilience and the richness of our soil. It feels honest, solid, and filled with the heat of a late summer afternoon.
