Hā Kōwhai - Breath of Golden Sulphur Original Oil Painting by Bobbie Whittaker

64 x 64 x 5.4cm (framed)

£675

This statement piece forms the central anchor of the Hā Kōwhai element of the Geothermal Collection.

From Māori, the name of this piece is split into two components. Hā: evokes a connection to breath, vital essence, life force, presence and aliveness. Kōwhai: means golden, warmth, sunlight, spring and sacred yellow. Together this phrase feels like the land breathing, geothermal, alive and slightly dangerous. The body of New Zealand with volcanic fire below. This isn’t just a pretty line, it feels elemental.

This collection reflects energy. It speaks to the power and resilience of the earth, but also to its breath, the quiet, constant presence beneath the drama. Inspired by the Māori understanding of land as a living ancestor, these works honour the idea that we are guardians, not owners.

Each piece in Bobbie's Geothermal Series is richly textured and unapologetically bold. They command attention from across the room, yet reward those who step closer. The longer you look, the more you discover: layered details, shifting tones, surfaces that change with the light and the seasons. These artworks don’t just fill a space, they hold it. They bring warmth, strength, and a reminder of something ancient and enduring into your home.

The collection is in two warring yet complimentary elements. Hā Pounamu and Hā Kōwhai

The price includes the artwork and the bespoke open grain natural wood box frame.
