This is a collection of seven paintings in Watercolour and pen and ink on legal bond paper, each framed separately in glass but meant to be displayed together as a cluster. This is a series of seven small works based on the concept of the 'Seven Mortal Sins' deeply embedded in the beliefs of monotheistic religions.
The Seven Sins, as revealed by the Bible are:
1. Sloth
2. Wrath
3. Lechery
4. Envy
5. Vanity
6. Avarice
7. Gluttony
My paintings are personifications of those sins. How would they appear if they were fantastical characters in a modern day fairy tale? That was how I imagined them. Each painting is a portrait of those characters with their own quirks and specialities. They are whimsical, cute, mysterious, revolting, funny and straight out of an ‘Alice in wonderland’ rabbit hole!
