GREAT GRANITE TORS
Up near Karels and Eagle’s Nest, I always take a moment, staring like a kid, like a fool, like a student.
The granite tors rise slowly, born of fire deep beneath the earth, shaped by frost, wind, and an unhurried patience that knows nothing of coffee queues and traffic jams.
They have watched country lift and split, watched silence do its work.
Each rounded shoulder carries the weight of millennia, feldspar and quartz.
Standing among them, history is felt, not spoken. Songlines are steady and close to the ground.
