This watercolor painting was created on location during my trip to Madrid in 2017. Sitting in a Starbucks café overlooking Gran Vía, I watched the city flow by—the constant movement of people, the rhythm of traffic, and the shifting light across the buildings. I wanted to capture that fleeting moment on paper, translating the street’s vibrant energy and atmosphere as it unfolded right in front of me.
It is painted on high-quality Fabriano watercolor paper (23 × 31 cm / 9 × 12″; rough, acid-free) using professional-grade Winsor & Newton and White Nights paints, ensuring excellent durability and long-lasting color vibrancy.
This painting has been featured in several international exhibitions celebrating travel and urban sketching, including Festival du carnet de voyage (Carcassonne, France, 2017), Matite in Viaggio (Venice Mestre, Italy, 2017), Sketching While Traveling: Spain (Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2018), and Spain Through the Eyes of a Traveling Artist (Moscow, Russia, 2020).
