This is an example of finding beauty in a world falling apart. In 2004 I suffered, as many have, a relationship that was built on trust be unraveled by an affair. In this desperate and dark period, I decided to create something beautiful. Without thinking I reached in to the drawer that contained photos of possible prospects for a linocut print. I transferred the image to the block and began carving. Tears filled my eyes as I carved and wiped off the block to carve again. It takes about one month of carving to proof a block. Once I decided to print the edition, the prints lay in the drying rack until ready for final cutting down and gluing or Chin collé to the support paper. Then I gave it a title. As I looked at the print, I realized that one side was carved using the white line technique and the other the black line. This created a strong contrast with a single tree standing in the center. I thought of what helped me through this grieving time, the death of a relationship. Hence the title, Grace Blue Healer.
