Goose – reduction linocut print (2025) Linocut by Jennie Smallenbroek

Bring the tranquillity and elegance of nature into your home with this original, hand-printed reduction linocut depicting a goose. The 30 × 30 cm image is printed on 35 × 35 cm, 300 gsm Fabriano paper. Eleven layers of Caligo Safe Wash oil-based relief ink create rich colours and a vibrant, tactile surface.

Each print is individually made by hand and is therefore unique. The reduction process involves carving away more of the same linoleum block before each new colour is printed. This creates a richly layered composition through an irreversible process that leaves no room for correction. The design and printing process took more than two months to complete.

My work is inspired by the animals that surround me in the countryside. As I create, I hear the sounds of sheep, horses and geese nearby. The style of this print is influenced by Art Nouveau and artists such as William Morris and Alphonse Mucha.

This original linocut makes a thoughtful gift for art lovers and collectors who appreciate unique, handcrafted works. Whether displayed on its own or as part of a gallery wall, it creates a striking focal point.
