The Very English Art of Tea Drinking (2022)Sculpture by Jane Tilley

A wire sculpture based on one of my continuous line drawings. This method of drawing develops confidence and drawing speed, and encourages your eyes and hand and brain to work together. It is a powerful way to create a piece that is both hard edged and fluid, representational and abstract, rational and emotional all in one. Pablo Picasso was known for making one-line drawings.

My design for the metal wall art was based on an old photograph of the English actress Vivien Leigh drinking a cup of tea. Handmade with aluminium wire and a set of small pliers. Comes with small discreet veneer pins to hang it on the wall. Unique kitchen wall decor which creates differing shadows which adds a new depth to the work.
