Contemporary Impressionism.

An evening walk through a Norfolk rapeseed field inspired this dramatic little oil painting. The true drama of the composition lies in the spectacular sky, which occupies more than half the canvas. Billowing clouds in shades of pink, purple, coral, and white sweep across a vivid blue sky, suggesting either dawn or dusk light. The artist employs bold, expressive brushwork and a rich impasto technique to build volume and movement in the cloudscape, creating a sense of atmospheric grandeur typical of the expansive Norfolk skies. The interplay between the warm yellows of the field and the cool blues and warm pinks of the sky creates a harmonious yet dynamic colour balance that captures the essence of the English countryside.
