A day of sun, of gold, in Edinburgh once again, after an absence. It is quiet, the streets empty, and this part of the city belongs to me alone. It is timeless, and I am reminded of childhood days of wonder, gazing into parks and windows and stairwells. Flowers and plants grow from pots, from the coolth of shadowy basement yards where no sun will ever reach, flowers reaching up and awakening to the rays of the sun that start to bake the stone platforms that bridge the cellars, linking the pavement to the doors. The stone is golden today, bleached by the sun, aged and imperfect but solid and eternal. The work is rich in light and in colour, suffused with yellow and light green. It makes a great gift and a great addition to any Scottish collection.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
