Original artwork description:

In this vibrant painting, I created a dreamscape where reality blends with imagination. With many different mark making techniques, working impasto, I have crafted an impressionistic landscape bringing the outside into the inside space. The colours of fresh green, gold and magenta are suggestive of wildflowers dancing in sunlight, an invitation to lose oneself in nature's embrace and a feeling of renewal.
An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer. With a palette knife paint is laid down giving careful consideration to the theory of colour and the laying of complimentary or contrasting colours producing a shimmering effect. These methods harness optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists alongside some of the methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing, I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The carefully laden strokes with the palette knife create an effect which has been described as similar to a stained glass window or mosaic.
The painting continues round the sides and a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang. A certificate of authenticity is provided.
