On a long walk in a place not totally familiar, when the sun was awakening but not the streets. I discovered this bridge. I was struck by its yellow sign, like a band of further sunlight, a little retro, a little evocative. At the edges nature appeared to take over, branches of elder entwining the light blue painted metal, a secret urban forest of shadow. The street is quiet, I hear the distant hum of an early bus, the cooing of pigeons, and already the heat releases its scents of tar and creosote. This work is a wonderful addition to any collection of Scottish art.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
