The Giewont is a mountain massif with its highest peak in the Wielki Giewont at 1895 metres above sea level near Zakopane in the Polish Western Tatras.
Giewont is a symbolic mountain whose silhouette is associated with the silhouette of a sleeping knight. One version of the legend of knights sleeping beneath the Tatra Mountains, who will awaken when Poland is in grave danger, places them beneath Giewont.
