This minimalist composition focuses on a single pot of geraniums, a familiar and vibrant presence throughout the Swiss summer—found on windowsills, in gardens, and along village streets. I was drawn to the interplay between the vivid red blooms and the cool turquoise green, as well as the striking shadow.
There is no emphasis on a background; instead, the negative space allows the subject to stand on its own. The painting was created on handmade watercolour paper from Italy, with soft deckled edges that echo the raw simplicity of the scene.
