This artwork is based on a refined and restored historical archival photograph capturing a journey through the desert. The title, "Generation Shaper," is a tribute of profound respect to the culture of the United Arab Emirates and a personal expression of gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. His Highness’s initiative to officially replace the term "housewife" with the title "Generation Shaper" reflects deep reverence for women and recognition of their foundational role in society's history and future.
As a woman and an artist, it was deeply important for me to convey female strength not only through its physical manifestation, but through timeless visual symbolism. This piece explores the power of female unity, creation, and an unyielding desire to bestow life. It is a deep, rich, yet fluid energy — calm and restrained on the surface, but monumental within.
Veiled in traditional attire, the figures of the women are both dignified and majestic. In their hands, they hold the well ropes — much like the threads of fate itself, flowing from the deepest source of life amid the sand dunes. In drawing water — a pure metaphor for birth, fertility, and prosperity — they perform not merely a daily task, but a sacred, unifying act.
The composition emphasizes the organic bond between humanity and the earth: the structure of the well, the wooden supports, and the ropes are crafted from the very same natural elements that form the desert itself. Beside them, the camel — a quiet companion of the journey — stands as a symbol of steadfast labor, endurance, and harmony with nature.
While rooted in the historical reality of women who drew water in the harsh desert decades ago, the painting elevates them to Guardians and Creators of Destiny. Their daily labor and silent, unbreakable strength remain the bedrock upon which the present and future of a nation are built.
