In this painting, I captured the moment inside the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, where a crowd stands in awe before Michelangelo’s David. Being among them, I felt overwhelmed by the sheer presence of the statue—it represents not only physical perfection but also inner strength and defiance.
To evoke this reverence, I used a low-angle composition to elevate David’s dominance and sanctity. The crowd is rendered with loose, contrasting strokes to convey a sense of movement and awe, while the statue itself is treated with more precision and highlights to emphasize its sculptural grace.
