This is an oil painting of a small bouquet of garden roses. Painting roses from life is a treat. Not only because I get to spend some time observing and taking in their beauty for a few moments, inhaling their delicate fragrance but also makes me think about how fleeting their beauty is. It's an act of meditation and a constant reminder that life is short and time is precious.

Here is a short poem that celebrates the timeless, beauty, and resilience of a rose:

In morning's glow, a rose awakes,
Its crimson dress in sun partakes.
Each petal's breath, a story spun,
Of battles fought and beauty won.

I hope I managed to capture some of the qualities of these delicate flowers in my painting and that it will inspire you to bring a bit of timelessness to your home.

It was painted on Claessens linen canvas that was attached to a 3 mm birch plywood panel. This makes it durable and stable.
