Winter at Lake Eibsee is a different world. The summer crowds are gone, and a heavy, muffled silence settles over the turquoise water. I used thick, expressive strokes to capture the 'crust' of the snow and the jagged personality of the peaks above. This painting is about that rare moment of standing on the shore when the air is biting cold, the water is perfectly still, and the mountains feel like they are watching over the lake in total solitude.
