Abstract impressionist painting.
Losing herself in colour and tones, is something Sandy can't explain. It seems to happen when she is completely in the moment of painting, she can find myself holding three of four brushes, and reaching for lots of different colours.
This 30x30cm painting is an abstracted view of April's early spring colours, fresh, pastel and floral. This painting is the second of three.
Building up layers of colour, using top quality Golden paints and spattering, using brushes, rags and palette knives to create a rich and textured surface with tonal depth is my aim. Sandy's canvas is worked both on the ground and on an easel - this allows her to add layers of watercolor like painting without it all dripping to the bottom the canvas! When on the easel in the last stages, she evaluates balance, colour and overall feel.
