This work is part of my French Côte d’Azur series. In the whole series, including this painting, blue dominates the composition, reflecting the characteristic color of the water along the French Riviera, where it becomes almost a central character. The work is painted on a dark colored ground using a limited palette of a few colors. A small, newly built kiosk stands near a promenade in the city of Cannes. A train passes nearby, while waves break on the other side. The painting is based on direct observation from life.
