The heat is blistering, palpable; the kind of heat that sends lizards running into the shadow. The crickets sing, otherwise all is silent. Shutters are closed against the sun. Flowers grow in glorious anarchy, an explosion of purple. The work is full of light, full of summery joy. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
