In my own village, a scene of bright, intense light, a French light, a light that bleaches and softens and cleanses. The sky is soft, the air languid. I loved the colour of the shutters, the patches of cooling shadow. This work is a great gift, a lovely souvenir of France.

Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
