Times of adversity always bring out the strength & resilience in people. Much like the Hellebores in this flower painting, withstanding the winter, flourishing through frosts & winds & blessing us with their beauty as the very first blooms of Spring.
As the world battles against Covid 19 & our lives change beyond recognition, our true strength emerges as communities do amazing things to support each other. From meals left on doorsteps to singing on balconies people demonstrate their fortitude & determination not to give up.
Hellebores, to me signify that fortitude & this community of delicate green blooms, painted in oil on canvas, sit on a backdrop of 23 carat gold leaf, reflecting & shining the inner strength which sees us through difficult times. The painting brings with it soothing tones & warmth.
