Original artwork description:

I typically paint the region of France where I live, which covers quite a large area. This painting is from my visit to Saint-Robert, a very quaint village in the Correze, known as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Having explored the village, I found this even more secluded spot, just outside of the fortified walls, which has a beautiful vista across the Limousin countryside, I however opted for this view, which included part of the old stone fortified walls. It represented a beautiful step back in time, deeply connected to the countryside surrounding it.

My style of painting is based on impressionism. Having lived in Paris, I often frequented the locations where some of my favourite impressionist artists also painted, as well as being inspired by the various city museums. It is on canvasboard (canvas attached to board) and has been left for many months before a gloss varnish was applied.

Materials used:

Oil paints (Rembrandt, Old Holland, Winsor & Newton, Gamblin, lefranc & bourgeois)
