Follow Your Dreams (2026) Original Oil Painting by Delnara El

Part of the ongoing Windows series, this is the largest work of the cycle and the central piece of Delnara El's solo exhibition Finding Something Here, presented at Kaş Sanat Evi, Turkey, in 2026.

Throughout the Windows series, the window functions as a threshold between inner and outer worlds, memory and possibility, knowledge and lived experience. In this monumental painting, that threshold becomes a place of departure.

An open window frames an endless sea, while a model sailing ship rests upon a stack of books. Rather than illustrating a literal scene, the work constructs a metaphor: books become a foundation from which dreams can set sail. Knowledge alone is static; it acquires meaning only when transformed into movement, curiosity, and experience. The ship, balanced between the safety of the windowsill and the vastness of the horizon, embodies the fragile moment before every journey begins.

Echoing René Magritte's fascination with the window as a device that questions representation, the painting blurs the distinction between interior and exterior reality. The sea is not merely a landscape beyond the room but an extension of imagination itself. The window no longer separates two worlds—it reveals that they have always been connected.

Created for Finding Something Here, the work reflects the exhibition's central idea: that what we seek is often not a destination but a way of seeing. Every open window offers not only a view outward, but an invitation inward—to rediscover wonder, embrace uncertainty, and find the courage to follow one's own horizon.
