£1,600

With roots based in drawing, these abstract paintings explore solidity, texture, and form. Influenced by the energy and intensity of punk rock and grunge music, as well as the improvisation found in jazz, each work is centred on mood and guided by freedom within the process. The serendipitous nature of making therefore acts as a guide, allowing each painting to evolve organically.

The works range from dense, monumental walls of paint to more fluid, expressive forms. Built up through many textured layers, each stage responds to the marks laid down previously throughout the process. These paintings are physical, both in technique and presence, but ultimately attempt to communicate on an emotional level.

Titles are used to reflect the overall feel of each piece rather than any literal or narrative reference.
