Original artwork description
The landscape, in all its meanings and nuances, is my “safe haven”, a fetch in my head where I can take refuge and reload in peace. When ideas are scarce or are struggling to find the way to emerge all I have to do is open the book of sketches by scrolling through hundreds of drawings and notes that speak of my land, the countryside, the trees, the flowers. It’s all in there, helpful and generous and I have no choice but to reap the benefits
My journey continues in search of shapes, colors and textures through my secret garden. It is a journey, above all inward, to the discovery of myself and of my memories that are manifested as fragments of things: flowers, leaves, shrubs, branches, clear or stormy skies, meadows and deep woods. An enchanted garden where you can access in times of need when, tired of the noise of everyday life, you feel the need to become estranged and fly higher.
Many of my paintings are my interpretation of the landscape and nature. My artwork rarely reflects a specific scene, but rather a combination of memories and imagination. I challenge myself to simplify, to push objects and color to abstraction.
