The poppies have come out in procession,
they wave their fragile flames
amid the green grass
and the yellow wheat like bursts of laughter.
They don't know how to stay still,
they soar, they escape,
they rise higher than the sky,
like balloons released by a child.
Blue invites itself to soften the red,
green bends to let the light through,
and the whole field becomes a song,
a simple and clear song
that speaks of summer,
freedom,
and love without reason.
