Original artwork description
Painted on-site at the MN Landscape Arboretum. Features a Flowering Almond Shrub in full spring bloom. The blossoms range from shades of light pink and white to bubble gum pink and mauve. Painted in oil over casein on board. The soft, matte texture and watery effects in the sky and background were created with casein paint. The sky displays beautifully soft shades of pink, blue, and purple. The fine, delicate branches and blossoms were painted in oil with brush. The texture of the blossoms has been enhanced with touches of paint thickly applied with brush and palette knife. The main shrub is accented on either side by two smaller bushes which are just beginning to fill in with dark purple/black leaves. A soft green background indicates the opening of other spring foliage. The final touch is a scattering of fallen blossom petals in the foreground.
Framed in a 3.5" wide wood frame with a platinum/silver finish. May be purchased unframed by request.
