Original artwork description
Flexing Universe is a large semi-abstract, highly colourful and vibrant oil painting of a Sussex landscape with red kites. It is 48x46x1.5. The painting was inspired by the area of the South Downs near Cissbury ring, an ancient iron age hill fort, which you can just see to the right beyond the multiple layers of colours and glazes and wild flowers as well as the sea to the left of it. Two red kites can also be seen through he veils as these are now a much easier to spot when you walk this area. The painting was inspired by a long walk I took one summer between Chanctonbury ring hill fort and Cissbury hill fort. Nature was in total abundance, wildflowers, birds, insects where in overdrive the landscape was vibrating with life which is what I was trying to convey in the painting. The painting was made by adding many overlapping layers and so the colours tend to cause interesting optical illusions. Dedicated to everyone who is working to protect our beautiful countryside and to the South Downs National Park staff and volunteers. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang, no frame needed, comes with certificate of authenticity.
