Original artwork description
This painting captures a quiet but deeply emotional moment—the arrival of spring. The bouquet of mimosa, with its soft yellow blossoms, is one of the first signs that winter has finally loosened its grip. In Tbilisi, these flowers appear on the streets every year, bringing with them a sense of renewal, warmth, and life returning.
For me, mimosa is not just a seasonal detail—it is a ritual. I buy these flowers every spring for my wife, as they are her favorite. Over time, they have become a symbol of care, continuity, and the simple joy of shared moments. I return to painting them again and again, each time discovering something new in their fragile lightness and vibrant presence.
The composition is intimate: a glass jar, a mirror catching reflections, and a table filled with soft, shifting colors. The brushwork is textured and expressive, echoing the fleeting nature of the blossoms themselves. Light moves gently across the surface, as if the room is waking up along with the season.
This work is about transition—the quiet, hopeful shift from cold to warmth, from stillness to life.
