Original artwork description
This is the fourth of my "Find your wings and fly away" paintings, and for this one I created three watercolour paintings of different swirling lines and shapes in graduating teal, aqua, and lime green watercolour with gold ink and copper acrylic.
Each of the three dimensional butterflies is punch-cut from the watercolour paintings and decoratively arranged in a graduating colour square in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy watercolour paper within a white glazed deep box frame
The result is a vibrant and colourful modern relief design revealing individual butterflies on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
