Original artwork description
This is the second of my "Find your wings and fly away" paintings, and for this one I created three watercolour paintings of different swirling lines and shapes, in three different shades of aqua, blue, green, cream and gold.
Each of the three dimensional butterflies is punch-cut from the watercolour paintings and decoratively arranged in a graduating colour square in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy watercolour paper within a white glazed deep box frame
The result is a vibrant and colourful modern relief design revealing individual butterflies on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
