This small, spontaneously assembled construction of colorful, slapdash oil paint offerings settles into the unmistakable form of a woman's truncated figure, spread-legged and leaning back in the attitude of sexual beckoning. Whether the feverish erotic pitch is embodied solely by the painting's central figure, or is shared by an imagined approaching lover (or inclusive yet of the image's viewer as voyeur, an equal and necessary participant in the culmination of a particularly libidinous triumvirate) is up for speculation.
Influences, among others, include Max Beckmann, Edvard Munch, Bob Thompson, George McNeil, Richard Diebenkorn, David Park, Francesco Clemente, R.B. Kitaj and Willem de Kooning.
