Fern & Flower

Mixed Media on canvas with plexiglass
Artwork: 50 x 50 x 8 cm * 19.7 x 19.7 x 3 inches
Ready to hang (French cleat system)

“Fern & Flower” is a sculptural mixed-media work that celebrates depth, texture, and the quiet richness of green tones found in nature. Handcrafted paper flowers in layered shades of green — from soft moss to deeper forest hues, gently touched with white — rise from the canvas surface, forming a rhythmic and organic composition.

Each flower is individually mounted on T-pins and pierced through a deep 4 cm canvas, allowing the forms to lift and breathe beyond the flat plane. This dimensional structure creates a delicate shadow play that shifts beautifully throughout the day, creating a quiet dialogue between material and space.

The canvas is reinforced from the back and mounted onto a white board. A precisely fitted plexiglass front is secured with stainless steel decorative spacer bolts, forming a clean 10 cm white border around the artwork. This presentation evokes the calm precision of a passepartout and enhances the Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic. Influenced by Nordic design principles, “Fern & Flower” balances softness with structure — organic movement with architectural clarity.

The artwork is professionally finished and arrives ready to hang with a French cleat system on the back, allowing for secure, flush wall mounting.

This body of work marks an expansion of my practice from painted surfaces into sculptural form. While my earlier works explored depth through colour and layering, this series explores depth through physical structure, repetition, and shadow.
