This drawing is from the fantasy series "Watchers," starring mysterious bird-maidens. Here, a small winged creature communicates with sphinxes against the backdrop of an Egyptian landscape. The desert and the Sinai Mountains symbolize eternal trials, man's struggle with his destiny, spiritual quests, and purification, while the magical sphinxes, bearing the moon and the sun, serve as eternal, vigilant witnesses of human existence.
